adamance: (shhhh sit down children)

BASIC INFORMATION

Name: Lexa

Canon: The 100

Age: 21-22

Bio: Born into a world where "Survival of the Fittest" is the law of the land, Lexa has always been trained to either be a warrior—or be the Commander of her people. When it was found out that she had black blood, she entered training as a Commander, and eventually made it through the difficult process of receiving that title (which was a several day struggle). Now as Commander (or "Heda"), she is the leader of her people, and she always has to put their interests first.

As the Commander, she is someone who cannot let others doubt her. Her imperious nature means that she will chastise those who challenge her, and her anger flares up whenever someone attempts do to exactly that. In many ways, Lexa is almost too casual about her death despite her role, but she knows that a certain part of her anatomy needs to live on and be passed to later commanders (namely: the chip in the back of her neck).

Prickly and a believer of strength both in acts and emotional repression, she loves her people above all else. For more information, go here.

SYMBIOTE INFORMATION

Iota - Burning touch
At the initial rank, Lexa will only be able to burn things that are readily flammable. This will naturally necessitate oxygen for chemical reasons, but she will be able to burn wood (so long as it is not wet: though she can also heat it and eventually make it burn), paper, melt plastic, make rubber smoke, or just about anything you can expect with a flame. Her power is strongest when centralized through her hands, with her hands (or body) almost acts as the flame. She need not be on fire to achieve this reaction, though that's possible even at this earlier stage (but, like you might expect, setting her hands on fire doesn't come with a single bit of finesse). Though much of her power will be projected through her hands, she will require an inflammable suit (likely similar to the unstable molecules that the Fantastic Four use in Marvel canon, as it can adapt). Outside of the flaming appearance, her hands will burn in appearance, glowing bright like there is a flame inside of them. She'll have the bonus of resistance to flames at this point (but only when she consciously activates her ability, so it comes with a price).

The negative effects of this rank are ones that carry all the way through: using her flame massively dehydrates her, especially in these early stages. With the loss of water comes the loss of energy, and she can only do much. (And with that, comes the slowed ability to breathe, create oxygen, and so forth.) The dehydration will almost always be present, but short-term use of the touch will only necessitate a bottle of water. Long-term use may lead to her requiring IVs injecting fluids into her system or further assistance. Also, if she comes to control less of her flames and develop finesse, it will naturally use up less of her water stores, as well as her energy, because it's centralized and more precise.

BROOD PERMISSIONS
The first thing that the brood will know is that even if Lexa doubts herself or her beliefs, she has a well-honed ability to stamp down that doubt in herself to carry out any and all actions. She is imperious, she believes herself to be a leader, and this isn't just a belief—for Lexa, it is fact. She is stubborn and unwavering in a belief once she develops it, but she has a political mind and a tendency to make something convoluted in order to carry it about. After an initial willingness to be resistant to the brood, she tried her best to open up to it and was met with callous responses, which means that she only likes Nathaniel now. Surviving this ordeal with her identity intact is most important to her, and if she can't utilize those closest to her then she will reject them. Even so, Lexa struggles inwardly with a cross between being flexible and digging in her heels when challenged. Though it may not seem like it, Lexa has changed a lot since she first became a Host, and that terrifies her.

Underneath this is someone who is both extremely emotional and trying to stomp any of her emotions out of existence so that they don't weaken her. It leads to great conflict within her. She is tightly wound in a lot of ways because of her position as a commander (note: this is both a militaristic position and a political one in her world, so she is a military strategist and a political one), and she's likely impatient with most people on a regular basis. In connection to this difficult emotional state, Lexa's experienced a lot of loss in her life: her first love, Costia, died, and her second love is someone who she only had a chance with moments before being brought to the Nest. That second love, Clarke, is a major impact to Lexa's way of thinking. The other person who often enters her thoughts is Titus, who trained her and is her closest adviser. She's lost Clarke, both in recognizing that she would die no matter what, and she's still struggling with the revelation that the man she trusted most who was like a father to her (though she would refer to him as a mentor) also was the one who would have killed her if she hadn't ended up as a Host. Dealing with the knowledge of the aftermath of her death is a struggle, especially since she's found herself focusing on the Nest (and incidentally, the very broodmates who have, in her perspective, rejected all potential for an alliance among them).

Physically, she has a silicone chip embedded in the back of her neck and when she dreams, she gets messages from the Commanders on it.

NEST PERMISSIONS
The imperious nature will be especially present here, without any of the conflict or doubt (at least to those who are new to the Nest). They will know she has a coalition of people outside of the Nest that she's concerned with, and that will make her emotionally removed. She is stubborn, unwilling to dedicate herself to these people, and she won't be readily revealing her emotional conflict on a larger scale. The biggest sense with her will be that she's an overbearing know-it-all. That wouldn't be a wrong impression.

It's likely important to know that Lexa's way of thinking is convoluted, not unlike someone who's overcomplicating a chess game when the obvious move is to strike straight ahead. She can both be straightforward and underhanded, and her thoughts will often confirm that her forthright behavior is done with some calculations.

MENTAL LINK
Colors wise, it's lots of browns and greens and blacks, with a bit of a flame color for the number of candles she uses to light her way in life (as she quite literally comes from a civilization without advanced technology). Her feedback is like a brittle wall, one that's firmly defined around duty, around her people, and around the world she comes from: one that exists in a wooded civilization with people who count on her in every walk of life. But the brittle nature of this wall is because she allows herself to care for others, and because she's a visionary, showing some flexibility in her thinking. Some. She's working on it.

PERMISSIONS
Physical Affection: To those she's not intimate with, Lexa's idea of affection is usually done via smiles and still sharp words. Don't expect a whole lot of hugs.
Physical Violence: Lexa comes from an extremely violent culture, and as such, will likely tend toward this a lot herself. Challenging Lexa's perspective will likely earn some ire and some violence. Her opening scene to an episode this season involved kicking a guy off a skyscraper. She isn't too soft. In Station 72, if the assault is a mental one, please, please inform me in advance and ask if it's all right. Depending on the state of Lexa at that time, I might say no.
Romance/Relationships: Lexa is still in love with Clarke, and that's the endgame for her per word of god. She's extremely difficult to put into other relationships as a result, and it's not really a focus of hers ICly (because everyone will have to measure up to Clarke in some way).
Thread-jacking: Welcome, but please ask if it seems like an intimate conversation! Lexa probably won't like the disruption either way, but I'll find it hilarious.
Back-tagging: We all live in a back-tagging world. Please never feel as if a thread is too late to return to—I will always respond!
Fourth-walling: Please no.
Offensive Subjects/Triggers: Please avoid all mentions of rape or sexual violence.
Anything Else? N/A for now!

ABILITY PERMISSIONS

Given that Lexa's ability is extremely physical in its usage, I will absolutely be contacting you before I go ahead and have her utilize it in a tag. That said, if you want a hard line "no" on her burning the crap out of your character, please comment below with the information here.

Is it okay for my character to use burning touch on your character?
Exceptions?:
Other Notes?:
